Green Island Awarded Cannabis Cultivation Licence
Green Island Growers granted license to cultivate cannabis in Jersey, Channel Islands.
Green Island Growers are pleased to announce they have been awarded a licence to cultivate, produce, possess and supply cannabis by the Jersey Health Minister, making Green Island one of five to be granted such a licence in Jersey. The receipt of this licence is a huge milestone for Green Island Growers, and a fantastic opportunity for Jersey to continue building and driving the industry forward in Europe.
Europe is currently developing a strong medical cannabis reputation, with many countries recognising the benefits of using the plant for medical purposes. Through continual development of scientific data, medical cannabis is increasingly becoming a accepted form of medicine. Due to this it is anticipated that we will see significant growth in the European medical cannabis market over the coming years.
Green Island Growers has been established since September 2019, forming of a collective of local residents with backgrounds in engineering, agriculture, accounting and marketing. With this wide spectrum of knowledge and expertise, Green Island intend to focus on building a business committed to growing high quality cannabis flower to deliver a positive contribution to both local and European markets.
Green Island Growers are currently in the process of converting an existing greenhouse into a high tech hybrid greenhouse suitable for cultivating medical grade cannabis. This style of cultivation will provide control of the environment through leading technology, which will help enable the production of pure and consistent flower.
Green Island are also completing the build of a purpose built GMP processing facility with the ultimate goal of producing finished cannabis-based products for medical use (CBPM’s).
Neel Sahai, Green Island Growers CEO said “This is a major milestone for us after a lot of hard work. It allows us to move forward to production with confidence and we are seeing tremendous opportunities to bring products to the local and European markets and at the same time have a hand in helping develop a new industry in Jersey.”
